Just 24 hours after announcing that Microsoft was making their Office Suite free, Word for iOS climbed to the number one spot at the app store.
Word is now ahead of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, YouTube and Google Docs. A pretty impressive feat for Microsoft who have struggled to return to their former glory days.
It seems that new CEO, Satya Nadella has a good grasp on where Microsoft stands in the industry and the more the company caters to Apple and Google, it seems the more the company shines.
Office for iOS is not only a good move in itself but offering it for free seems to have given the app a lot of traction, allowing it to push past the big players.
While the free version has most of the basic editing tools, the more advanced tools require users to sign up to the subscription service which is around $8.99.
