A photo has leaked from the labs at Samsung, revealing a new virtual reality headset.
Similar to Oculus Rift, it appears that Samsung has been working on their own virtual reality headset that is expected to make its debut at the consumer electronics show in Berlin in September.
The leaked photo shows a touch pad on the side of the lens and a button that allows users to control “see-through” mode.
Nicknamed, Gear VR, the device will have a USB 3.0 dock that will allow users to connect their mobile device for head tracking.
Sources have also claimed that Gear VR will come with a selection of apps and a SDK for developers.
While Samsung has not confirmed the photo, tech sources are saying that Oculus Rift will provide the software for the Samsung device and are expected to announce the collaboration at their Oculus Connect conference which is also scheduled in September.
VR technology is definitely set to be the next new thing and it seems Samsung is ready to stay ahead of the trends.
