Chief Executive Officer of Apple, Tim Cook has proudly stated that he is gay in an essay published in Bloomberg Business Week.
“Let me be clear: I am proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me,” wrote Cook.
While the CEO has been in the spotlight for years, this is the first time that he has publicly mentioned his sexuality. He chalks this decision up to keeping his focus on business and not on his personal life.
“Apple is already one of the most closely watched companies in the world and I like keeping the focus on our products and the incredible things our customers achieve with them,” Cook stated.
By revealing his sexuality however, Cook has now become one of the most prominent executives of a public company to “come out” and state it proudly.
In fact, Cook has been applauded by many for doing so and is celebrated for his decision to come forward and boldly state who he truly is.
In the article, Cook stated that he has been very private about his sexuality in the past but now believes that it is nothing to hide and nothing to withhold from the public.
One thing is for sure, Apple will definitely be supported more than ever by the gay and lesbian community.
