Walmart has received special permission from Apple to discount the price of the iPhone 5S and 5C.
Walmart are going to begin selling both the 5S and 5C models at a discounted permanent price change in order to clear inventory for the upcoming model.
The 5C can be purchased for just $29 on a two year contract and the 5S is available for $99.
Customers can choose to sign with Sprint, Verizon or AT&T.
This deal will only be featured exclusively in Walmart stores and not online nor at the Apple store.
Many have speculated that this price drop is because the popularity of the iPhone is waning however, a spokesperson for Walmart claimed, “we’re just providing our customers with the technology that they are looking for.”
Apple definitely tends to be more expensive than some Android phones which is why Androids do dominate the global market.
The 5C was supposed to be Apple’s attempt in creating a more budget friendly iPhone, but it is not yet clear if the company really pulled the sales figures they were hoping for with that model.
The reason for the price drop could also be as an incentive to get customers into Walmart and some have even speculated that the retail giant may be making a very small profit margin on the promotion.
Apple has not released a statement about the promotion.
